A PhD. dissertation at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Basrah, investigated the impact of strategic vigilance and flexibility on strategic performance, and the interactive role of strategic orientation at the General Company for Iraqi Ports.

The dissertation, submitted by student Alaa Nasser Dawood, aimed to test the impact of strategic vigilance and flexibility on strategic performance and to demonstrate the role of strategic orientation in improving the company's competitive position.

The dissertation employed a quantitative approach, distributing a questionnaire to a purposive sample and analyzing the data using structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM).

The dissertation concluded that strategic vigilance has a positive impact on strategic performance, while also confirming the interactive role of strategic orientation.

The dissertation recommended adopting a modern information system for collecting and continuously updating customer data to support decision-makers.
